Haro appoints Pasqual Canals to lead Iberian market

Haro Bikes has continued its expansion programme in Europe by appointing a country manager for Iberian market.

Pasqual Canals will join the US-based bike manufacturer to lead in Spain, Andorra and Portugal.

Canals’ career in the bike industry spans nearly 10 years, working for brands including Intense, Ibis, Santa Cruz, Cervelo and Fox.

Following the announcement, Canals said: “If I think about Haro, the first thing that comes to mind is an image of Dave Mirra and Ryan Nyquist winning medals at the X games in the early 90s when I was a kid and I started to do my first bmx races. I look forward to continuing my racing on a Haro.

“Having the opportunity to be part of the Haro team, a brand with such strong history and heritage is amazing for me and I’m so stoked to start working and show the retailers the new line-up of all bikes.”

Haro is undergoing a period of transformation, with the ambition of becoming a preferred brand for Iberian cycle industry retailers.

Alongside the new vision Haro has expanded its portfolio to include e-MTB, gravel and road offerings.

Haro’s chief commercial officer, Lars Hjort is leading the restructure of the brand’s sales operation, focusing on building close partnerships with local retailers.

On Canals’ appointment, Hjort added: “Having known Pasqual for many years and we also worked together some years ago, it was easy for me to sign Pasqual to our team.

“I am actually proud that Pasqual wanted to join our team. I know how competitive Pasqual is, the pressure he puts on himself and his equipment to win. It confirms Haro is doing the right things. Welcome Pasqualin.”

Canals will be working alongside Jan Teigelhoff, sales manager for the entire European market.

Teigelhoff commented: “I am extremely excited to welcome Pasqual Canals to the Haro family, his in-depth knowledge of the market and his commitment to cycling make him the ideal person for this position.

“His in-depth knowledge of the market, the sport and his commitment to cycling make him the ideal person for this position. We are confident that he will take our brand presence on the Iberian Peninsula to a new level.”
