Quin appoints David Hemming as head of sales

Quin, the USA-headquartered business which builds technology that brings intelligent, connected, safety to helmet users, has announced the appointment of David Hemming as head of sales.

Hemming joins at an exciting time for Quin.  A recent investment by MIPS has given heavyweight backing to Quin’s patented sensor technology and emergency response systems, which the business sees as the future of optimised helmet safety.

A streamlined strategy focuses on the integration of this tech into key partner brand helmet ranges, meaning that the technology will soon be widely available to all helmet users.

As the first British rider to win a UCI mountain bike championship downhill medal, Hemming, comments: “The development of AI and machine learning, combined with Quin’s technologies, delivers a product to helmet manufacturers which gives confidence to end users – their safety can be monitored with unmatched communication, speed and care – and this has already proved to save lives.

“As a former professional cyclist, I’ve had my fair share of accidents on two wheels. Quin excites me. I am thrilled to be joining at such an important time for the business.”

Hemming takes with him a wealth of strategic domestic and international sales experience across the sporting goods sector and a passion for technological innovation.

He will be responsible for shaping strategy and building a team focused on building industry relationships to grow consumer access to the multiple benefits of Quin technologies.

Quin’s COO, Hannah Surabhi, says: “The direction of travel for the future of safety for helmets is sensor technology.  Quin’s easy-to-integrate solution enables us to make this easily accessible to consumers in the short term.

“We are thrilled to have David lead our key partner and retail relationships as we roll this technology out across all helmet categories.

“As a former professional cyclist and cross-sport athlete, David brings a depth of understanding of the applications of Quin technology and the value of the reassurance it offers. As an industry veteran, he also understands how to deliver benefits to the brands that adopt it.”

Hemming will be with the team on the Quin stand at the upcoming Eurobike show in Frankfurt in Hall 11.1, Stand B16 and can be contacted at david@quintessential.design.
