Sidi marks 60th anniversary with new shoe

Sidi has added the Sixty to its line-up – to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary.

The new shoe will be available from the end of January.

“Our lightest-ever performance shoe, the Sixty is produced with cutting-edge materials that respect the environment as well as providing enhanced rider comfort,” said a statement.

“Featuring an exquisite TechPro upper, new integrated heel cup, full 3k carbon vented sole and our new Tecno-4 rotor closure, the Sixty already has fans in the pro peloton with riders such as Egan Bernal, Vincenzo Nibali and Rigoberto Urán all wearing the shoe in competition.

“The Sixty continues our legacy of quality, high performance and beautiful shoes rooted in the world of professional cycling – a light, stiff and comfortable race shoe for riders who demand it all.”

TechPro upper
“The TechPro microfibre upper features a highly technical, innovative and eco-friendly material made in Italy. Its unique characteristics give increased durability, stability and lightness to provide riders with both high performance and great longevity. TechPro also offers a high level of water resistance along with an anti-mould treatment, which helps fight the build of bacteria. This, combined with the Nylon mesh, aids breathability and creates an ideal microclimate inside the shoe helping to keep your shoes fresh.”

Vent carbon sole
“Our full 3k Vent Carbon Sole has been meticulously designed to provide the best power transfer on the pedals while also ensuring Grand Tour comfort. A quick turn of a screwdriver and the integrated vent can slide to allow extra air into the sole to cool the foot, making the Sixty perfect for four-season use.”

Tecno-4 closure
“The Sixty’s new Tecno-4 rotor closure is remarkably advanced compared to our first design, created back in 1988. The single dial reduces weight and ensures a precise, micrometric closure while the tension release has been improved for faster closure and removal of the shoe.”

High-security velcro strap
“Complementing the Tecno-4 dial, the toebox area is secured with a lightweight high-security velcro strap. This special design provides the perfect closure thanks to integrated locking polymer teeth that engage when the strap is closed and which also reduce the load on the velcro, extending the strap’s life.”

Reinforced heel cup
“A reinforced heel cup has been a hallmark of our shoes for many years and on the Sixty we have implemented a new integrated design. Anatomically shaped, the heel cup utilises lightweight, reinforced construction to stabilise and support the foot while pedalling and avoids deformation after prolonged efforts and pressures. In the Sixty, much of the heel cup is hidden under the upper material, giving a classic look reminiscent of earlier shoes in our history. The heel pad itself is also replaceable to extend the shoe’s life.”
