Velo de Ville has officially launched a new urban cargo bike – the Loady – first showcased at Eurobike 2024, now available to configure and buy.
Aimed at city inhabitants and business customers looking for efficient transport solutions, the longtail-typical feature of the Loady is the extended rear frame, which offers additional storage space.
However, Velo de Ville has brought the Loady to market with a full customisation and modularity option for the longtail, making it possible to transport both luggage and people.
Families in particular will benefit from the rear seat option, which comes with suitable footrests, offering children a safe and comfortable ride – two child seats can be attached, making the bike a great platform for any trip.
At launch, the team behind the Loady also pointed out that “even when travelling, the Loady proves to be flexible thanks to its low weight, as it can easily be taken along on a suitable (vehicle mounted) rear bike rack.”
The Loady’s is fully configurable via the Velo de Ville website, offering a broad range of options – enable customised to build a bike that meets their individual needs – whether padded seat benches and footrests for transporting children, or various attachment options for bags and boxes: Modularity makes the Loady a versatile urban transport option.
A robust aluminium frame ensures a stable yet impressively lightweight construction that guarantees excellent riding stability even when fully loaded.
The Loady is available with two stands: an optional side stand for easy parking when unloaded, and a standard two-legged stand with remote lockout on the cockpit, providing stability even when loaded on sloping ground.
The Family Edition, with the ride bar, can also be parked upright.
Bosch motor and battery options
Bosch-powered, the Loady is equipped with either the Bosch SX 55Nm motor or the new GEN5 CX 85Nm motor. Battery choices come in the form of 400Wh, 545Wh and 800Wh options. The Bosch 250Wh range extender is also available.
Five drive train options span belt drive and enviolo, including Automatiq, Shimano hub geared with traditional chain, making the Loady drive train fully configurable for price point and owner preference.
Bike weight, and load-carrying capabilities
Depending on the equipment, the Loady weighs between 31.8 kg and 38.6 kg.
Total permissible weight is up to 200 kg, depending on the equipment, with the rear carrier approved for a load of up to 75 kg.
Pricing sees the Loady starting from £3449.
“With the Loady, we are offering a solution that meets the requirements of modern urban life while offering maximum functionality and flexibility,” says Johannes Kottwitz, head of development and product management at Velo de Ville.
“We are proud to have developed a product that represents real added value for both private individuals and business customers.”
