After the retirement of Nigel Roberts, Trek has announced the appointment of Jim Poulton as country manager for the UK+ business.
Roberts leaves after 33 years at Trek and 26 years managing the business.
“Nigel leaves with a great legacy,” says Harald Schmiedel, VP Trek Europe.
“We wish him a happy retirement and thank him for everything he has done for the bicycle company.”
Roberts’ strategic leadership established Trek as a leading bicycle brand in the UK, and its expansion into Poland, Ireland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, becoming the UK+ subsidiary that it is today.
Following the announcement, Roberts comments: “I am incredibly proud of how the UK and UK+ business has progressed since I started back in 1991.
“It has been an amazing journey, and I never envisioned the tenure that I have had.
“I’ve not done it alone, I’ve had a brilliant team around me who will continue to bring the same innovation and dedication in this new chapter of Trek UK+.”
Roberts is succeeded as country manager for Trek in the UK, Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia by Jim Poulton.
Since graduating from the University of Sheffield, Poulton has held commercial and finance positions across the financial services, food ingredients and office products industries.
He has lived and worked in France and the US but been based in Trek’s Milton Keynes HQ since 2011, leading the brand’s finance functions across the continent.
Harald Schmiedel, VP Trek Europe, adds: “Over the last 13 years, Jim has proven time and time again his great business acumen coupled with excellent analytical understanding and strong leadership, which I am confident will make him an outstanding leader for our UK+ business.”
During his tenure at Trek, Poulton has played a role in driving financial strategies that have improved the company’s profitability and operational efficiency.
He also assisted in expanding Trek’s market presence across Europe, contributing to the company’s growth in market share in the region.
Poulton concludes: “I am honoured to have this opportunity to lead the UK+ business at Trek.
Trek’s business has been founded on partnerships with our retailers, and on working hard to contribute to our customers’ success. I believe we have a strong team who are fully committed to that aim.
“We are ready to work hard in partnership with you to drive our respective businesses forward, towards our goal of being your favourite supplier.”
