Restrap expands bikepacking range with Downtube Bag

Restrap has released a new addition to its bikepacking range of luggage.

There’s no prizes for guessing where the Downtube Bag is designed to fit, but its beauty is in its simplicity.

A tool free, high-grip compression strap holds the 1.2 litre capacity dry bag in place, without the need for tools.

As with all Restrap luggage, the Downtube Bag has been designed, tested and manufactured in Yorkshire, the UK, and has been put through its paces on races such as Silk Road Mountain Race, Land Between and Bright Midnight.

While the Downtube Bag is unlikely to be the first piece of luggage a rider will purchase, its value is in its ability to use otherwise “dead space” on the bike.

This means that the Downtube Bag is ideal for boosting capacity but also for those with smaller bikes and limited within-frame storage capacity.

A single, integrated, velcro strap wraps around the Downtube Bag and downtube, securing it in place and minimising any rattles.

A stitched in grip pad prevents the bag from sliding out of position and the bolt-free attachment means the Downtube Bag can be swapped from bike-to-bike in seconds.

While rider’s can store what they like in the Downtube Bag, the Restrap team believe that it is most useful for spares, tools and heavier items.

By storing them in a low and central location, it helps maintain the bike’s natural centre of gravity.

This is also useful if running a dropper seat post and are unable to store items under the saddle, or if bikepacking set up means that users aren’t able to run a tool pouch in its usual location.

The product has a roll top, is fully waterproof and designed to fit all bikes, from the skinniest of steel tubing up to 19 cm circumference downtubes.

RRP: £49.99/€59.99/$74.99
