German e-bike specialist Advanced introduced a full-suspension step-through e-bike at Eurobike 2024 with the launch of the Trekking Pro full-suspension Wave.
Positioned as an urban SUV-style bike, featuring 120mm of suspension travel front and rear, this is primarily aimed at engineering in ride comfort. As Adam Brown, director of Advanced Bikes UK puts it: “No one would drive a car without suspension these days, so why should one forego the comfort of suspension on an e-bike”.
Keeping with this comfort and ease of use theme – the Trekking Pro full-suspension Wave is a step-through bike, making it a regular, reliable, form of transport for anyone looking to get from A-to-B.
Suspension is taken care of by Suntour – good enough for Olympic gold with Tom Pidcock – and comes with the brand’s XCR 34 120mm Air fork up front. Out back the SUV Edge LOR 190 / 45 Trunnion shock takes care of things.
Drive comes from the Bosch Performance CX motor, with 85nm of output, paired with a Bosch Powertube battery, in either 625Wh or 750Wh capacity.
As is the case for all Advanced bikes, the frame is covered by a 30-year warranty, with the Bosch warranty extended to four years.
Drivetrain components are Shimano sourced, with Deore 10-speed or XT 11-speed options. Braking is Shimano 4 pot up front and 2 pot at the back, with MT420 and MT 410 respectively.
The bike comes as standard with mudguards, lights, and pannier racks, further emphasising the utilitarian credentials of the model, positioned as everyday transport.
Of those lights, it’s notable that these aren’t a generic, no-brand, option. At the front, depending on the Deore 10 or XT 11 model, are Lezyne’s Super HB E1000 (600 lumen) or E500 (500 Lumen), with the Super Bright Alert on the rear of the bike.
The bike is now available in the UK, via the brand’s local market distribution partner, Advanced UK (Also Bikes).
