Rouvy, the indoor cycling app which has built its name by bringing real routes around the world to indoor training, has announced a new partnership with Team Visma | Lease a Bike.
In a bid to optimise training and race-readiness, Team Visma | Lease a Bike sought out a virtual cycling platform with realistic route features. With Rouvy’s unique Route Creator tool, the team’s riders and performance coaches can now easily replicate and ride on specific routes from anywhere.
As just one such example, Jonas Vingegaard can now preview and train on Tour de France summit finishes from home in Denmark, regardless of poor weather, or replicate any challenging terrain in the world without leaving home.
This functionality also supports team coaches, who can guide riders across global locations through the same route simulations, ensuring cohesive and tailored training.
Mathieu Heijboer, performance coach for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, emphasised the impact of the Route Creator: “With Rouvy, we can build and simulate precise routes for training or race recons. This enables us to prepare our riders under real-world conditions while taking into account the challenges of specific terrains—even from thousands of miles away.”
Not just for the pro’s
The collaboration will enable riders of all levels to prepare and train with the same tools used by pro athletes, combining indoor and outdoor worlds to support race and route preparation—no matter the weather or location.
In addition to real-world route preparation, the partnership offers users exclusive access to Team Visma | Lease a Bike workouts inspired by star riders such as Jonas Vingegaard, Wout Van Aert, and Marianne Vos.
The partnership will kick off with a group ride on Wednesday, 27 November at 6 pm, where all Rouvy members can join in with various Team Visma | Lease a Bike riders, including Atilla Valter & Ben Tullet, and ride the closing part of the final stage of La Vuelta, rolling into the iconic centre of Madrid on traffic-free roads, with a few short climbs over 20km and 213m of ascent.
Virtual training camp
Looking ahead, the collaboration will expand in January 2025 with the launch of a virtual Visma | Lease a Bike training camp, where users can follow the team’s winter preparation program with new workouts, training plans, virtual assets such as jerseys and bikes, and expert insights from staff.
This exclusive camp will provide access to the same training and techniques that propel Team Visma | Lease a Bike to success, empowering cyclists worldwide to elevate their outdoor season.
Petr Samek, CEO of Rouvy, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership’s possibilities: “Our collaboration with Team Visma | Lease a Bike brings professional-level training to every Rouvy user, allowing them to train on real routes that matter.
“We also want to enable our users and team fans to engage in cycling together with professional riders. This partnership delivers the tools and experience that both professionals and dedicated amateurs need to excel.”
