‘If you don’t vote, you allow other people to choose who represents you.’

Make your voice heard

By the time you read this, the UK will be days away from electing its next Prime Minister. You’ll be relieved to know that this column isn’t going to be me championing one political party or another. You should support whichever party or candidate is right for you. But please do vote.

You may think ‘they’re all the same anyway, so what’s the point?’. The point is, you can make your voice heard. This is potentially the only opportunity to vote on national issues in the next five years. If you don’t vote, you allow other people to choose who represents you.

If you’re still struggling to find each Party’s pledges on Active Travel and transport, we have collated these in an easy-to-digest guide with no commentary or spin, verbatim from the manifesto on P7.

Elsewhere in the mag, the industry keeps on going. Rebecca Morley speaks to The Electric Bike Shop about the changing face of the e-bike market (P18). I sit down with Decathlon UK’s CEO to talk about the company’s refreshed branding and the transformation of Van Rysel (P22), and Rebecca Bland catches up with Swytch co-founder Oliver Montague about the new Go Kit.

We also have a discussion with Alessandro Basso about Basso’s return to China (P43), and Simon Cox talks sustainability with Velor’s Tom Leezer.

It’s easy to feel despondent with politics in the current climate, but on Thursday, July 4, you have the chance to change that narrative. Don’t miss that chance.

Editor
