September already, where is 2024 going?

This time of year is a busy one for us here at BikeBiz towers as we ramp up towards the BikeBiz Awards 2024 in association with Push, taking place in Birmingham at the end of next month.

In the current climate, it is important to occasionally step back, take stock of how special the industry which we all work in is and champion those who have made progress over the last 12 months.

As we continue that countdown to Thursday, October 31, we round-up all of our finalists on P7.

This edition of BikeBiz is also our Cycling Technology special so we have spoken to experts in the field to try and understand some of the trends in the space and predict what is next.

Earlier this year, I sat down with Strava CEO Michael Martin and chief business officer Zipporah Allen to discuss the brand’s latest developments and why ‘building for her’ is building for all (P22). I also caught up with Janelle Chubey of 4iiii Innovations to talk through the company’s history and look at how a rise in demand for data insights is changing consumer demands.

Elsewhere in the mag, Simon Cox speaks to Pete Collard from eBike Motor Centre about the realities of e-bike motors and the importance of repair over replace (P32) and Rebecca Morley catches up with Cyclemotion’s Mark Bickerton to chat through Tern’s Bike Brand of the Year win at the 2023 BikeBiz Awards, as well as e-cargo bikes and the partnership with OGA (P43)

As the peak of the traditional cycling season comes to a close, many will be looking to 2025 to offer some respite from the long-standing headwinds.

But now is as good a time as ever to search for the positive, reflect on the successes of the year so far and push forward towards the final quarter of the year.
