Pashley announces landmark bike share scheme at Berkeley Group development

Pashley has announced what it calls “a landmark bike share scheme” at Berkeley Group development, The Green Quarter, which it states will “define the future of micromobility.”

The 100-year-old British bike brand has showcased its smart bike share solution at The Green Quarter, an 88-acre parkland and canal-side residential development in Southall, where the bike share scheme is exclusively for residents – making it the first of its kind in the UK.

Discussing the scheme, Marcus Blake, MD at St George, Berkeley Group, comments: “The Green Quarter’s Resident Bike Scheme is a pioneering initiative exclusively for our residents, connecting the community to the surrounding area and providing greener, more convenient commutes,”

At the heart of the Pashley bike share proposition is the award-winning and proven Pashley Prospect smart bicycle, available in both electric-assisted and conventional versions.

Designed from the ground up specifically for bike share projects, this British-engineered and smart-built bicycle aims to be low-maintenance, robust, practical, versatile, comfortable and vandal-resistant, as well as being packed with intelligence and connectivity.

Working closely with the Berkeley Group, the fleet of distinctively branded Pashley Prospect bicycles and docks for The Green Quarter’s resident bike share scheme features the development’s striking branding to unify the scheme’s aesthetic and environmental focus.

“Our bike fleet has a total of 30 bikes available throughout the development, with 60 docking stations,” comments Blake, who goes on to say “Half of the docks are located opposite Southall Station, while the rest are across the development for convenience. This setup ensures that no matter where you are within The Green Quarter, a bike is always within reach.”

Fundamental to the success of the scheme is Pashley’s partnership with Urban Sharing. Together both brands developed the software, creating leading tech solutions to deliver excellence, innovation, insight and – critically – a bike always in reach and ready to ride.

Andy Smallwood, Pashley’s CEO, reflects: “Working on this trial with the Berkeley Group and seeing our holistic bike share proposition being enjoyed by The Green Quarter residents is extremely rewarding.”

Taking a technology based approach enables the operators of the scheme to gain valuable insights into how the bike share is being utilised, maintained, managed and enjoyed.

Talking about the partnership, Tom Nutley, CRO Urban Sharing, comments: “Pashley’s innovative bike share solution, featuring smart bicycles and versatile docking systems, perfectly aligns with our vision for the future of urban mobility.

“The integration of our cutting-edge technology and user-friendly design showcased with The Green Quarter system demonstrates how bike sharing can be seamlessly incorporated into modern residential communities.

“This collaboration between Pashley, Berkeley Group, and Urban Sharing sets a new standard for accessible, sustainable transportation in urban environments. One which we hope to see replicated across the UK and beyond.”
