Mud Dock is an iconic bike shop and café in the centre of Bristol. It’s set over two floors of the old harbourside building we refurbished back in the 1990s, with a bespoke workshop and large outdoor terrace added in 2006. Our love of bikes and food – together with the support of amazing staff and loyal customers – has helped us keep up with the newest cycling and restaurant trends. In 2019, we were proud to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We are currently recruiting for a new Store Manager to join our Bristol store. This is a very unique opportunity as Mud Dock typically runs a very low staff turnover, yep we like to stick around. As well as keeping your team engaged and motivated, you will need to embrace a real passion and understanding of cycling along with trends and new tech. You maintain the efficient and effective operational day-to-day running of the store whilst also implementing and driving long-term strategic objectives, ensuring the continuous growth of the Mud Dock’s brand. YOUR DUTIES Play a pivotal role in cultivating a great working environment within your store, always ensuring your teams well-being is at the heart of decision making Possess a proven record of management, sales and team leading Be in charge of all purchasing, budgeting, marketing and supplier negotiations Be confident in selling our key brands (Brompton, Cannondale, Trek, Basso and Tern) Have a good understanding of current P/A as well as great mechanical skills (Cytech 1 or equivalent experience) Take full accountability for the execution of day to day retail operations in store e.g. key holding, scheduling, VM, stock/delivery, admin, housekeeping, while upskilling your team to allow consistency in your absence Champion our products by delivering an excellent experience, be a role model and brand ambassador, coaching & energising your team to drive sales to meet and exceed store KPI’s Recruit a diverse and inclusive Store Team who demonstrate key Mud Dock values and behaviours Train, develop and coach your team to deliver against store targets (brand training, sales revenue, inventory) and deliver consistently high levels of customer service. Develop, manage and implement efficient operational processes & best ways of working Maintain overall responsibility for health & safety and security within the store: ensuring your team have completed all relevant training, the store is compliant and adhering to all H&S guidelines Operate with a large degree of ownership but also decide when and how to escalate challenges to Senior Management whom you will build a solid working relationship with to help achieve store goals. YOUR SKILLSETS At least 3 years of Retail Management experience (preferably in the cycling industry) Extensive computer skills using Windows 10 and Office Packages Merchandising experience Excellent written and verbal skills Exceptional decision making and problem solving skills Customer service skills Great math and analytics skills with the ability to generate solid budget and purchasing plans WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
