Team members are collectively responsible for keeping the workshop clean, tidy and safe. We put tools back. We do not tolerate mess. That kind of thing. Skills and knowledge Know how our bikes work – technical knowledge is key. Workshop team members must collectively know how to strip, re-build and repair every bike we sell – including eBikes. Know how other bikes work – we see all kinds of machinery which we need to maintain and fix. If we don’t know how, we need to know where to get the knowledge we need. Know how to operate and manage our systems – the workshop throughput system runs on Citrus Lime – it’s easy to learn if you don’t know it. IT and record keeping – support the Shop Manager with the recording and reporting of team hours, workshop stock control and ordering etc. Attributes Be friendly. Make everyone want to work with us because of who we are. Be the fun part of our customers’ day. Communicate clearly. Some bike stuff is technical and not everyone ‘gets’ it – make it simple and help people understand. Be flexible. Occasionally the Shop Manager or Assistant Manager will ask team members to fill dead time with a variety of tasks like building up bikes, stock counting or re-stocking, clearing up rubbish etc. Embrace these tasks, understanding that they all contribute to making Summertown Cycles a great place to work and shop. Be hungry for knowledge. Take courses; earn qualifications; learn new stuff every day. And in return… We’ll pay you a competitive salary – equal to or better than anything else in Oxford – relative to your experience and aspirations. We’ll develop your skills and help you build your career in the bike business if that’s what you want. We’ll support you with time off to train – and we’ll cover the cost too. We offer 29 days holiday incl. bank holidays, and you’ll benefit from our staff purchase scheme.
