Now, we're on the lookout for a Head Mechanic to maintain the day-to-day operations of our bustling workshop. The Job: As the Head Mechanic at The Hackney Peddler, you’ll be at the helm of our workshop, ensuring that every bike that comes through our doors receives expert care and attention. You'll lead a team of skilled mechanics, oversee daily operations, and uphold our commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. This includes, but is not limited to: Lead and inspire a team of mechanics, providing guidance and support for professional development. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to optimize productivity and quality of service. Manage daily operations of the workshop, including scheduling, workflow, and inventory control. Ensure the workshop meets weekly/monthly/annual targets and effectively communicates and aligns these with the team. Oversee bike repairs to ensure high standards of workmanship and timely completion. Interact with customers to understand their bike repair needs and provide expert advice. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through exceptional service delivery. Diagnose and resolve complex bike repair issues, utilizing in-depth knowledge of bike mechanics. Sustain an organised and well-presented workshop at all times. Stay updated on industry trends to enhance repair capabilities and service offerings. You: Proven expertise in bike mechanics equivalent to or surpassing a Cytech Level 3 qualification. Strong understanding of retail operations, focusing on excellent customer service and problem-solving. Experience with store security and workshop inventory management Adaptable and effective in retail and workshop environments, thriving whilst multitasking. Previous experience in supervisory roles, including recruitment, training, and task delegation. Natural problem solver with patience and determination. Love of handmade bicycles and willingness to continuously learn and improve bike repair and maintenance skills. High professional integrity and accountability, dedicated to delivering high-quality work. Comfortable working independently while supporting and collaborating with colleagues. Tech-savvy and adaptable to new technologies and industry trends. Enjoys interacting with customers and delivering exceptional service.
