Sidi Sport signs the ‘Business for People and Society’ Manifesto

Sidi Sport has endorsed the “Business for People and Society” Manifesto, a document aimed at businesses, drafted by the UN Global Compact Network Italy.

UN Global Compact Network Italy is the local network of the United Nations Global Compact – the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The Manifesto seeks to inspire a new and more ambitious commitment from the private sector not only in combating climate change but also in the social dimension of sustainability, involving their supply chains and extending the impact throughout the entire value chain, going beyond legal obligations where possible.

By signing the Manifesto, Sidi Sport reaffirms its commitment to promoting business practices that contribute to the well-being of people and society, in full alignment with the UN’s sustainable development goals.

The Manifesto is based on 10 key elements:

  1. Integrate the social dimension into business strategies and enhance social value
    creation by companies
  2. Respect Human Rights and Labour Rights
  3. Develop a culture of inclusion, respect for diversity, and equity
  4. Commit to worker well-being
  5. Invest in internal and external training and awareness
  6. Identify corporate finance actions and synergies that benefit the Social dimension
  7. Promote practices that strengthen equity and reduce inequalities
  8. Support collective actions for community well-being
  9. Measure and transparently report on social impact
  10. Communicate and be an Ambassador

The United Nations Global Compact is a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General, tasked with guiding and supporting the global business community in promoting the goals and values of the United Nations through responsible business practices.

With over 20,000 companies and more than 3,000 non-profit signatories based in 162 countries and 69 local networks, the UN Global Compact Network Italy (UNGCN Italy) primarily works to promote the UN Global Compact and its ten principles through institutional dialogue, knowledge production, and the dissemination of good sustainability practices.

UNGCN Italy is also committed to advancing the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs) set for 2030. Over 600 Italian businesses and non-profit organizations participate in the UN Global Compact.

Davide Rossetti, CEO of Sidi Sport comments: “The goal of the Manifesto is to foster an increasing commitment from private sector companies in the social dimension of sustainability to ensure a fair and sustainable future for generations to come, leaving no one behind.

“The signing of the Manifesto represents a fundamental step for Sidi Sport in demonstrating our commitment to promoting social sustainability, alongside environmental and governance objectives. We have adopted our own Code of Ethics, support sustainability policies, are among the supporters of WEP’s Women’s Empowerment Principles for gender equality, and pursue inclusion because for us, people matter most.

“In line with the strategy of the parent company Italmobiliare, we are committed to pursuing a growth model that respects people, the environment, and the community.”

“We have joined the United Nations Global Compact and today are pleased to sign the Manifesto ‘Business for People and Society,’ thereby formalizing our commitment to further strengthen the social dimension of our corporate strategy.”
