Daniel Blackham to step down as BikeBiz editor

After more than one year at the helm, Daniel Blackham is stepping down from his role as editor of BikeBiz.

Blackham joined the BikeBiz team in March 2023 as staff writer, moving into bike media from his role in local journalism, before taking on the editorship in September of the same year.

His new position will see him take up a communications position within the public sector.

On leaving his current role, Blackham said: “I am extremely proud of what has been achieved in my time at BikeBiz. We have seen the title produce some of the most diverse content in the sector, with a spotlight shone on many under-represented groups in the industry, championing the voices of those who are often ignored.

“While it is difficult to pinpoint just one highlight throughout my time here, the very successful return of the BikeBiz Awards in-person last month was a special evening.

“To get more than 120 people to Birmingham as a standalone event for the first time is no mean feat and I sincerely hope the industry continues to support the awards moving forward because it offers so much to all who attend.

“While it may have been a turbulent few years for the bike trade, I am confident it will prevail and come out the other side stronger than ever before. I will certainly be supporting you all from afar.”

Blackham’s last day with BikeBiz will be Tuesday, December 3.

With this announcement, the exciting opportunity to lead the BikeBiz and MicromobilityBiz editorial team as Editor has opened up.

As Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing and producing industry-leading news stories for the BikeBiz and MicromobilityBiz websites while contributing high-quality features for the BikeBiz monthly trade magazine.

A journalism degree or NCTJ qualification is a must. Leadership experience preferred. Prior knowledge of the cycling industry is not essential, but a general interest in bikes is preferable. An aptitude for social media strategy is key, as is some experience with InDesign.
