She’s Electric has confirmed its attendance at Everything Electric London, set to take place at the Excel from Thursday, March 28, to Saturday, March 30.
Representatives from the campaign will have a range of electric bikes, from front-loading family Cargo bikes from CaGo to longtail compact cargo bikes and smaller folding models.
All e-bikes have been selected to feel comfortable and practical for women to use in their everyday lives.
The team will be on hand to give guidance, advice and hands-on support to women wanting to get started on an electric bike. There will also be child seats and helmets to ensure it’s a safe, enjoyable family-friendly experience.
A on-site boutique offers a chance for women to browse and try a selection of clothes and accessories that can help them cycle in style and get away from some of the traditional cycling stereotypes.
As well as the Everything Electric event in March, She’s Electric will also exhibit at Fully Charged, taking place at the Excel London, from Tuesday, May 28, to Thursday, May 30.
Caz Conneller, director of community and culture at Loud Mobility and creator of the She’s Electric campaign, said: “We are excited to be working with the Fully Charged show and Everything Electric to reach a wider audience with our She’s Electric experience. The gender gap is apparent across EV, active travel and micromobility and it’s important we all work together to close it.
“The ‘us and them’ mentality that can exist between cycling and driving is not conducive to mass behaviour change. It’s important we collaborate within e-mobility to give people multiple opportunities when it comes to their future transport choices.”
Sophie Browne, founder of Also Bikes, the UK distributor of CaGo and Advanced bikes, will also attend as one of the campaign’s role models and will be on-hand to offer advice and expertise.
Eilis Barrart, presenter and head of content for Electrothreads is also one of the campaign’s role models.
Electroheads will be running the micromobility demo track at Everything Electric London, offering women only sessions from 3pm to 4pm on each day of the event.
A spokesperson for Everything Electric/Fully Charged, commented: “We are delighted to welcome She’s Electric to our first Everything Electric London show which opens at the Excel later this month.
“Not only will they be bringing a range of e-bikes and cargo bikes for our test track that have been selected with women in mind, there will also be an hour dedicated each day to women only test rides for the first time ever at our events. This is in recognition of the gender gap in e-mobility and the importance of supporting women to explore the benefits of e-bikes.
“We look forward to working with She’s Electric more closely over the coming year to communicate their important initiative to our Fully Charged/Everything Electric audience.”
About the campaign
She’s Electric is a national behaviour-change campaign to inspire and enable more women to ride an electric bike as their mode of transport.
The goal is to reach one million women in 2024, with a vision for the electric bike to be a mainstream mode of transport and to achieve gender parity.
It hopes to change women’s perceptions of what an electric cycle is, showing them that it’s a useful, accessible tool for all.
The campaign will do this through our high-profile PR celebrating role models, as well as through a series of national events that will provide women with the opportunity to try an e-cycle in a safe, approachable and welcoming environment.
Tickets for Everything Electric are now available online. Use the code “SHESELECTRIC” to receive 50% off general admission.
