Taipei Cycle 2024 promotes green revolution as industry focal point

Taipei Cycle concluded on Saturday, March 9, with up to 4,000 international visitors from 80 countries attending the exhibition.

The top five buyer countries included Japan, China (including Hong Kong), the USA, South Korea, and Singapore.

Additionally, a total of 23,000 domestic industry attendees visited the exhibition.

2024 key sustainability themes

The show offered numerous opportunities for attendees to engage with prominent international brands and supply chain companies. This year’s show saw a special focus on four key themes:

  • Micromobility
  • Green Action
  • Start-up and Innovation
  • Cycling Culture and Lifestyle

For the organisers, these themes reflect the wider industry’s commitment to sustainability.

Championing change, forming partnerships, facilitating conversations

Event organisers saw the introduction of innovative themes as a means to inject new vitality into the industry at a time of challenge and change.

With a major focus on sustainability, the “Riding Towards Sustainability Forum” featured speakers from Cycling Industries Europe, Rapha, Accell Group, and Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS) – an event which attracted 172 industry professionals.

Bike Venture presented by Taipei Cycle and Anchor Taiwan received positive feedback

The sustainability theme was further exemplified by the Bike Venture programme initiated by Taipei Cycle and Anchor Asia (Anchor Taiwan), which aimed to harness Taiwan’s bicycle industry tradition and technological capabilities to foster an innovative ecosystem for the bicycle industry.

The Bike Venture Zone showcased 10 selected start-ups from eight countries/regions, with notable attention garnered by their innovations.

Highlighting the keen interest in cross-industry collaboration, the Bike Venture Summit and Innovation Salon attracted more than 30% of registrations from investors and technology industry executives.

Trade attendee insights

Tyler Anspach, president at SDG Components, said: “Despite the industry turbulence, the Taipei Cycle Show was a success and exceeded our expectations.

“In a time where face-to-face connections are crucial, the show provides a solid opportunity to meet with international distributors, key OEM accounts and suppliers, and catch up with industry friends. Taipei is one of our favourite cities too – which is why we haven’t missed the show in 20 years!”

Bob Margevicius, executive vice president at Specialized, added: “The show was full of energy. Seeing the amazing amount of innovation with a strong emphasis on ESG and sustainability was great.

“Taipei Cycle always provides excellent networking opportunities with a wide, diverse, global selection of exhibitors showcasing a vast range of products and services. It was terrific to see so many young new start-ups featuring exciting new products.”

For 2025, Taipei Cycle will be held from March 26-29 at TaiNEX Halls 1 and 2.
