Ortlieb expands repair network with new service dealers in the UK

Ortlieb is advancing its dedication to sustainability by expanding its national and international repair network.

As part of this commitment, Ortlieb has trained eight new service dealers across the United Kingdom, reinforcing its repair-first philosophy to extend product lifecycles and reduce environmental impact.

With the addition of these UK-based service dealers, Ortlieb’s expansion aims to support environmentally conscious consumers by offering accessible, high-quality repair options for its products.

The new service dealers are an essential component of Ortlieb’s global repair network, providing localised repair services for Ortlieb’s cycling and outdoor gear.

By minimising the need to replace products, the brand encourages sustainable consumption while ensuring functionality and performance for outdoor enthusiasts.

Ortlieb’s CEO Martin Esslinger explains: “We repair around 18,000 products a year at our site in Heilsbronn, where all our products are manufactured.

“Being able to offer repairs on site not only avoids unnecessary shipping routes, but also leads to shorter waiting times for customers and brings additional customer footfall into the store.”

As Esslinger explains, sustainable management has always been part of Ortlieb’s DNA and is an aspiration at the same time.

He continues: “Responsible use of the natural resources we have means, above all, that products should be as durable as possible.

“Because by far the most important sustainability aspect of a product is its longevity. In our efforts to maximise the service life of our products, their reparability has always played a central role alongside our production process and the materials used.

“The expansion of our repair network allows us to make retailers and consumers even more aware of the advantages of products that are as repairable as possible, while at the same time making them a regional and direct experience.”

The newly-trained service dealers bring advanced skills and certified expertise, allowing them to handle a wide range of repairs, from zipper replacements to re-welding structural integrity in Ortlieb products.

The initiative also aims to further expand repair capabilities across international markets, reflecting a strategic commitment to sustainable and accessible outdoor equipment maintenance worldwide.
