Body Rocket aero optimisation system launches pre-order

Body Rocket, the tech start-up behind the world’s first and only real-time aerodynamic direct drag force measurement system for cyclists and triathletes has today opened pre-orders via Kickstarter.

Designed to help pro and amateur athletes understand aero and ride faster, without disrupting their training or requiring them to be aerospace engineers, Body Rocket offers a ground-breaking system that accurately measures live direct drag – on the road – giving reliable aero data as you ride.

The old approach: Performance gains for the few

  • Whilst wind tunnels are widely considered the gold standard in accurately measuring aerodynamics, there’s only a limited number in existence.
  • These facilities can be expensive to use and are often reserved for athletes at the very top level of sport, despite being the most sought-after performance gain for road cyclists and triathletes around the world.
  • Even if access weren’t an issue, wind tunnels require an expert to interpret the data
  • Riding in static, laboratory conditions doesn’t always translate to riding in the real world, riding for longer periods or over multiple rides.

Body Rocket: An accessible, competitive, advantage

The Body Rocket system uses a series of wireless, proprietary force sensors located at all the rider contact points – the handlebar/stem, seatpost/saddle and pedals, coupled with an out-front mounted airspeed sensor.

The system measures, then transmits, aero data directly into a Garmin head unit, giving live feedback on a rider’s aerodynamics and body position.

The brand’s proprietary AI-driven analysis software ‘BRIAN’ (Body Rocket Individualised Ai Network), guides users through the process and helps them track their progress over time*, without them needing to become aero experts.

*Changes in position are often a process, even in a purely bike fit focused example. Adaption can take time, with off-the-bike and on-the-bike work done to achieve, and sustainably hold, the optimal position.

Here, Body Rocket enables progress to be monitored – tracked, and frequently checked – without the cost of repeated wind tunnel sessions.

Kickstarter campaign

Launching its first ever pre-order today – Tuesday, October 15, 2024 – via Kickstarter, the brand intends to begin shipping to consumers from May 2025.

A variety of order tiers and options are available at launch, from early bird discounts, starting at £2,200, to aero coaching packages with renowned former pro cyclist Alex Dowsett and his coaching company Thighs Club.
