Spanish gravel bike specialist Guava is now available in the UK and Ireland.
Guava was founded in March 2023 by David Alvarez and Nacho Suarez, between them having more than 30 years of experience working in the Cycle Industry.
Born in Seattle and living in Europe for many years now, Barcelona has been Alvarez’s home for the last seven years, himself with around 20 years working in the bicycle industry and having plied his trade previously in Belgium and Japan.
Suarez, a Barcelona native, is a qualified industrial engineer with years of experience as a pro bike mechanic, enduro racer, and project manager.
He heads up all aspects of product development and operations.
Guava Bikes is supported by the venture portion of Never Say Never, the Sports Entertainment company of Andres Iniesta.
Together with Guava co-founder Bojan Krkic, a former Barcelona and Stoke City player, these former Barca players are putting their weight behind Guava Bikes in the UK and Ireland, and worldwide.
Guava only uses High-Modulus Carbon Fibre in its framesets and one-piece cockpits.
The geometry is designed to be fun and lively, versatile and also confidence-inspiring. The frames are manufactured exclusively in Asia using Guava’s own unique closed moulds.
Each frameset is then painted and every bike assembled by hand in Barcelona to order.
Guava chooses to focus on more than communicating just the technical specifications or latest innovations.
Whilst its model, the Guava Spot, has optimised frame geometry and component choices, plus features such as the internal frame storage with Fidlock’s lockable magnetic catch system, it’s the rider experience which always leads the company direction.
The messaging is about having fun, exploring new routes and destinations, and camaraderie.
Guava offers a choice of 80 colourways. With eight frame colours and 10 decal colours to choose from, each frame is created exactly the way each customer wants it.
The customer chooses their colour on the website and their bike is painted, assembled, and shipped within three weeks.
Each bike is assembled by Guava at their Clubhouse and HQ in Barcelona. There is currently a choice of three build options: SRAM Force AXS (£4,950), SRAM Rival AXS (£3,550), and Shimano GRX 610 (£2,950).
Frame sizes S, M, L, XL are built with size-specific crank, stem, and handlebars.
Frames are assembled with a 1x single chainring, with customers free to choose between 38T, 40T, 42T.
Shimano GRX and Rival AXS builds come with Guava’s own Volte alloy wheels, Guava alloy bars and stem.
The Force AXS build is upgraded to Guava’s Volte carbon wheelset, custom designed carbon one-piece, fully integrated cockpit, and carbon layback seat post.
Guava have selected WTB Riddler 700x45c tyres for each build, the original gravel 45c that rolls fast and grips well.

This April, David Alvarez approached Rory Hitchens and his brand building consultancy, Greenleaves Cycling, to launch and grow Guava bikes in the UK and Ireland.
“We meet a lot of British riders here in Girona and Barcelona,” says Alvarez.
“The UK is clearly in love with gravel, and we want to be part of the fast-growing scene there. Rory’s long-standing reputation for successfully building brands, his love of cycling off-road and strong connections in the UK gravel community, means that we are perfectly aligned to launch Guava now in our first market after Spain.”
Hitchens, speaking from his home in Brighton, adds: “Guava shouts loud as a fresh and exciting brand. David and Nacho have an exceptional product with a clear vision for the brand. We already have plans for events, collaborations, and demos within the UK and Ireland.
“On my first ride in Barcelona, then with my first real press on the pedals at Gritfest in Wales, I immediately felt confident and at home aboard the Guava. This truly is a great bike. I’m ready to bring a smile and the promise of great rides to new gravel fans across the UK and Ireland.”
